Half Way Point…What Does It Mean?

Alright.  This morning I woke up (around 10:30 since I don’t have any class Wednesday until 6PM) and came to the sudden realization that it was October 15.  While for most, this is probably a great thing.  For me, not so much.  There are many things that I realized as I rubbed my eyes wishing the sun would leave me alone…

First, halfway through October means half way through the first semester here at Walsh.  I mean the last week of classes is before Thanksgiving Break, we come back for exams the first week of December, and that’s all she wrote on that one.  The first semester of my final year here at my beloved home will be over.  While I’ve thought about the Van Wilder approach to school, I think I better graduate at the end of this year, especially since I have no assistant or sweet golf cart.  It’s hard to believe though that just 3 short years ago I was a freshman, longing to be a senior.  Now I’m a senior, wondering where it went.  Each year saying that the past year was better, but realizing it was just a different kind of fun.  Friends have come and gone, love lost and found, tests studied and taken, opportunities seized and unfound, and of course booze bought and drank.  But you know what? I wouldn’t have changed my four years here for anything; except possibly make them go slower.

Half way through October for me is also a classic “Oh No” moment.  I am in the Honors program here at Walsh and in your senior year you need to complete a senior thesis.  This process started in May and by now it is suggested that I be roughly 40%-50% done with my thesis.  Reality check says NOT QUITE THERE!  Hey, I’m doing what I can.  I need to get on that though (and so does ever other student in the program…We tend to slack together! )

Half way through October means the Ultimate season is here.  For those of you who just went, “What is he talking about?” let me enlighten you.  Ultimate Frisbee is a sport which combines the sports of football and soccer except you use a frisbee.  YouTube it if you want a visual.  Well we have a team here,  I am one of the captains, and our team is well on its way.  First tournament in 3 weeks…I’ll let you know how it goes down…

Half way through October means…Well it means here is to the rest of the semester!  If it’s anything like the first half, well then hold onto your butts people.  This will be one fun ride…
