Welcome Back — Update!

Hey there blog readers!

I would like to start out by saying that I am very sorry about not writing for such a long time.  Here at Walsh, one can get just so busy with everything; sometimes you have no idea to what is going on.  I am happy to say that we are almost done with the second week that we have been back from winter break.  I think this semester will be a little easier for me because I am only taking 14 credit hours (well was taking 17 but my philosophy class had to be dropped).  Anyway, I am really enjoying my classes so far.  All my professors are very friendly, most are the same from last semester because I am taking the same good old Organic Chemistry and Anatomy and Physiology II.  The only thing that I am kind of upset/ grossed out over is the cat dissection I have to perform this semester.  Well if it something you really enjoy, I’m sure you would love this class, but I am one of these people that gets easily grossed out.  I think I’m starting to get over the fact that there is a dead cat on the table …. I may be okay! :)

My break was great! I was the only person from my dorm room that had to stay to the very last day of finals.  Everyone got to leave either on Wednesday or Thursday and I was there until Friday- the VERY LAST day of finals :(  it got a little lonely but it was also a huge advantage because I was able to get all of my studying done.  After my finals I drove home and it was wonderful.  I didn’t go anywhere far from home during break, nor did I do anything…too exacting.  I was lucky to have the time to spend with my family, friends and my boyfriend.  I don’t get to see anyone of them a lot because granted, I do drive home every weekend, but I work whenever I am home or study because I like to keep my priorities straight.  It was just wonderful to spend all this time with my family just doing simple tasks such as cards with grandma or just movies with boyfriend.

After coming back to school, getting all my stuff moved back in and getting to talk to my roommates, I got very ill.  Well it wasn’t really illness…. It was the good old FLU!  I felt terrible about getting sick upon my arrival; usually when one roommate gets sick then everyone else doees too… the whole floor! Going to classes was miserable the weather as we all know was not the greatest (not that it’s any better now) so that made it even worse.  Almost two weeks later, I still have a cough but other than that I am good to go.

There is also another huge reason why I am excited to move back in and start this spring semester.  I was hired by Walsh University Residence Life, as a Resident Assistant.  I am very excited to finally become one because it was something I wanted to do ever since I came to Walsh.  Today is my floor’s very first floor meeting and I am very excited for it.  We are going to have pizza and pop and it will be a great environment to meet everyone.  All righty I think I have rambled on long enough, but I will give you the update on any new things very soon.  I am going to make this my little new year’s resolution, to write a little more often.  Have a good week readers and until the next time……

ahhh.. Disaster..! no just Finals

What’s up everybody! …yes I am so very .. very excited to write this blog right now for so many reasons.   First off, is that I finally had a chance to go home and actually relax for once rather than work.  I finally get to just sit down with my paprents and talk about school ( haha meaning joke around) because I realized I never get to spend any time with them anymore.  It feels as if I never actually talk to my parents about everyday stuff.  I don’t remember if I mentioned this at all yet, but I did actually come from Poland so my parents as well as my family, don’t really speak good in english.  It’s always different (in a good way) to hang out with them becasue they are totally opposite from what I have at  WU.

This past week was actually amazing, I only had one anatomy test (brain.. yuck) :) I was all confident about studying so much since it was the only thing I had to worry about this week.  All of a sudden the idea of shopping with my roomate or simply TV sounded so much better all week.  Well as you can probobly figure out .. I didn’t get to study untill the night before that nice “little exam”.  The only thing that I was actulaly confident about was all the cranial nerves.  Everything else …. CLUELESS!!! .. So as I was dreading to actually go to class and take this beastly exam… I was trying to remember all the times I would stress out about something.  I told myself that I need to be calm and just get it over with… and so I did.  On firday (today) I knew we were getting those test back, yea .. kinda nervous.  Well I was actually expecting a bad grade like C or D because I really didn’t know my stuff (at least so I thought) … but I ended up with an 86% .. that’s a B .. that got me all pumped up!!!   I actually just started realizing this ( i wished i would have figured this sooner) that it is so much better to actually “learn” science then to try to memorize everything.  :) I hope none of my professors from last year read this :)

Well it’s a friday night and guess what I am doing.. your right! you silly reader you! .. you got it…. studying for all of my FINALS! .. just like all the other bloggers.. or at least Kim because she sure looks like she has it just as bad as I do.  Tuesday I have my Organic Chem lab final  ( .. wooooohooooo H2O) then on Thursday .. well I hope by then I will know all the parts to the brain and skull and the others because I have my A&P practical that day :( .. The real cherry on top is my Organic Chem Test in my lecture class.. I have no idea when I am going to learn everything I need to know for that.

As you see I will have a pretty busy week next week… Pray for me.. please and all the other students that need to do good the next couple of weeks.  I know everyone will do great .. just tell yourself that!

Ps: If you don’t hear from me for a while, it’s because I am planning to sleep all of this studing off one of these days :) ..

Until the next time my friends …

Past Couple Weeks

First off, I would like to apologize for not writing anything for the past I want to say two weeks, but I do have a good excuse… (Well couple of them).  After coming back from my Cedar Point trip with my roommates, things got very hectic here at Walsh University.  As usual, after the midterms are done with…. is an amazing wave of projects and papers due for about every class that you take along with practicals (in your sciences) and presentations.  Whatever free time that you may have, you want to spend with your friends and family but that’s not a lot.

Cedar Point was quite amazing as always.  We had a special treat because since it’s Halloweekends and it is a little chilly outside (meaning freezing when you’re on the rides) there was not that many people there.  Our group went on all the main rides and even the first seat of millennium force (TWICE) in a matter of an hour.  I would like to say that it was great.  This was only my second time going to Cedar Point therefore I was super excited since many of the rides we went on, were my firsts.  The best part about this trip was that all of us finally had a chance to spend time with each other than studying together or going to classes.  The only sad part was our fourth roommate Katelyn was not able to come along for the ride.

The week after Cedar Point was pretty challenging I had many things to study for (I know AGAIN!) … and that is where I had technological problems… (Just like Tyler in his blog).  I was creating a power point presentation for around 6 hours to help me study anatomy.  Being a perfectionist, it took me forever, I periodically saved it (about every hour or so).  Finally, after hours of struggle, I finished it and when I finally turned power point off my whole presentation was lost, even the parts that were saved prior to that … The good old “Microsoft power point had an error”… Wow I don’t think you would like to be in the room with me.

Saturday, October 25 my roommate Katelyn had her dance performance with the Walsh Dance group during the Massillon Monster Show.  It was a very fun even and it showed off Walsh’s dance team at their best, performing the Thriller.  The coolest part about it was they were dancing on a brick street between very creepy and old houses; very good setting.   They also participated in the zombie walk.  It was a very different experience for me since I have never seen anything like it.  In Poland (the country where I grew up) people don’t really celebrate Halloween.   This show enlightened me about celebrating this holiday differently, other than passing out the candy.

Speaking of candy, Walsh University had their annual trick or treating to the kids in the community.  It is a very exciting event for us as students and the kids.  I had so much fun decorating our hallway; I want to say this is almost my favorite part of the year, but I think that Christmas beats it.  Lot of us on the floor were trying to cover every inch of the wall with black trash bags to make the floor look creepy but also so the kids would not get scared.  My favorite part were the black lights installed, it really gave our floor the Halloween look.  I was so excited that our floor won the 2nd place in the contest of floor decorating (Pretty Exciting!!!)  The best part of the evening was seeing all the little kids in their costumes and being excited about the candy.  This was a very nice break from all the studying and it allowed Walsh University to give something back to the community.  To all of the students and staff that worked so hard for this event:  Thank you for all your hard work and dedication, it certainly is appreciated.

past… present… future :)

As we all know, the great moments in life that we experience are short and the dreaded experiences tend to last really long. Well this was also the case for me the past couple of weeks. The first half of October I was really worried about all my midterms, since they all happened the week before fall break. Everyday I had an exam (sometimes two! or three!) and all I kept thinking about was pulling all together that week and then… FALL BREAK= relax.  A few all-nighters and midterms later, I made it to Friday night safely and my Fall Break has begun J

I decided I was going to have a lot of fun that weekend since all I have been doing is studying and writing papers.  Well all was not so great, as soon as I got home, I got SICK!  Can you believe that!  So the whole fall break I spent in my bed with a fever, the nice thing was, I got some time with my family since when I am not at WU, I usually study or work or hang out with my boyfriend or friends back at home.

So I am back at Walsh and it is great because here we get this random two days off and we come back to a three day week! (I know… Genius!)  This is the week can make you, or break you if you didn’t do so hot on your midterms.  That’s right you get to get all of them back! Well over all I did pretty well (in case you were wondering, and I’m sure you wereJ). Now I keep looking forward to Sunday because my roommates and I are going to go to Cedar Point.  I can’t possibly wait because I have only been there once before and I didn’t see too much because it was raining.  We hope to get an awesome weather; so far it’s not looking so bad. The best part about this trip is that finally all of us can spend a day together without any classes and tests to worry about.

When I was a freshmen in college I decided to go randomly with my roommate and she turned out to be great so then our sophomore year we both decided to go random and again the technique has not failed.  Our roommates are great and we all get along.  This trip is going to be so much fun; I just hope that I won’t have to wait in line for three hours to ride the greatest ride in the world “The maverick!”

Well this blog must come to an end because your probably getting bored reading it.  I will post some pictures from Cedar Point (you know your jealousJ, just kidding)

See you later….

Pretty big college tip.. revealed

Procrastinating is a very bad habit for most college students… I am definitely affected by that, and I guarantee that most of you are as well.  If you are not a procrastinator, I am so very happy for you and so jealous <insert huge round of applause here>.  If you are just like me, a natural procrastinator, don’t fret you are not alone.  College life can become so hectic here at Walsh University; I am grateful for that because there is nothing worse then being bored.  This hectic thing can also go the opposite way (one figures) and in the end your going to face the reality; you are here to get an education.

Walsh University has many activities that are very tempting to attend.  You get to meet many new people but most of all, you go to have fun.  Usually I attend them under the classic college excuse of a (are you ready?!?) “STUDY BREAK”.  So your sitting in your room, studying for your chemistry test and trying to figure out what your professor said about a re-dox reaction, what?? Your exam is tomorrow and you’re freaking out.  The best way to go about this problem is: take study breaks.  No, I’m not telling you to study for 15 minutes and then go off to watch a movie.  What I have figured as a procrastinator is study for about 2 hours and then take a half our off.  I promise, if you have to cram for an exam that is the way to do it.  In that wonderful half hour break, be sure to talk so some people, or even go outside; there is always a corn hole tournament here at Walsh.  Warning: Pulling all-nighters are also common with this technique.  You might also be interested in attending some of the floor activities during that time.  Two greatest things about those are:  they’re right outside your door, and you can meet the people that practically live with you.

If you are not a procrastinator, all is not lost.  Walsh University offers many activities that will take longer then a half hour.  You can enjoy a wonderful movie on a grassy knoll, play some sports with your friends just for fun, attend student fairs, play some game shows, and just hang out.  One thing you really want to learn is that while studying is important along with being on top of things, it is very important to be social.  After all this is your “home away from home”, (I know cheesy)  and you need to have those people to talk to.

No matter where you come from, what your interest are, what your major is, and however many activities you are in, make sure not to forget the most important thing: Have a fun!   Attend many campus events, and if you are really busy, at least consider them.  College students also have to be well- rounded, and that is not something you can just “study for”.

See you later
