Back @ Walsh ’09

Hey there readers

It has been a long time since I last blogged and of course a lot has happened since then. My vacation away from school has been great. I didn’t get to go anywhere or do anything out of the ordinary this summer, but it felt a lot different. First off, this summer just seemed to fly by really fast, it seemed like if I wasn’t working there was always something planned to do. Second was that this summer in Ohio has just been really cold (and if you spent your summer here you know exactly what I am talking about). I guess those are some of the negative parts of my summer but there was also one big positive. This summer was basically the last summer that I was able to actually fully enjoy because next summer I’m planning to take some classes, do research and I have to take a few entry tests to dental school (I know sounds great). As a residential student you are also quickly going to notice that living on campus all year allows for many perks at home. There is something really splendid about being a residential student, when you actually do go home and come back for the summer you get special treatment at home, you will see it’s like you’re a guest at your own home… Awesome :) I guess that kind of made my summer better too because while I enjoy seeing my friends every day all year I do miss my family a lot and those nice four months of summer are great to spend with them. I guess that enough about that, after all you really are reading this blog to see how life is here at Walsh and not somewhere else… so I’m going to tell you a little about that.

As you probably know from my previous blogs, I am a resident assistant here at Walsh and this year I have been placed in an all freshmen hall, Alexis. It is so exciting to be here because it brings so many memories from when I was a freshman. It’s also very different this year because most of my resident’s last year were boys and this year I have all girls. I am sure this year is going to be exciting and I will probably have many stories to share with you. Today is actually the end of the very first week and it was filled with many fun activities sponsored by the University Programming Board, Campus Ministry, Residence Life and others. We had events for everyone to enjoy starting from floor programs to meet your neighbors to Justin Kredible (magician), free photo booth pictures, cotton candy and poster sales to help decorate the dorms. On Wednesday the University held a Catholic Mass to start off the academic year as well as a picnic for everyone to enjoy. It was great to have a chance pray for a good year as well as to see all the returning students and faculty as well as meet all the incoming freshmen.

There is just something about this beginning of the year that makes almost every college student decide to have a good semester (or at least better than the last). That is exactly what I’m thinking about this upcoming semester. I promised my self to try my hardest in all of my classes even the ones that are going to be too hard. I also will try to post more blogs than last year and keep everyone updated abut what is going on throughout this campus and the freshmen halls.

KEEP CHECKING FOR WEEKLY UPDATES :D
